Seeking Justice in an Unjust World

Speaker: Mark Wollenberg
Date: Sunday, May 31, 2015
Listen Listen    Study Study    Watch Watch
The Scriptures show us that the abuse of power results in oppression and injustice – especially among the poor and marginalized. However the same Scriptures also call those of us who are followers of Jesus to seek justice on behalf of those who live with the everyday reality of injustice. This message invites us to join God in His mission to bring his justice into a broken world.

Mark Wollenberg has planted and pastored churches in Western Canada for 25 years before joining International Justice Mission (IJM). He currently serves as the National Director of Church Mobilization for IJM Canada in which he engages with Canadian churches in conversations about how to live out the biblical responsibility to “act justly” on behalf of our poorest and most vulnerable neighbours. Mark believes that the church can and should be a great force for justice when we speak and act on behalf of the oppressed.

The Rejected Messiah

Speaker: Dr. Jonathan Griffiths
Date: Sunday, May 17, 2015
Listen Listen    Watch Watch
Psalm 89:19-52

Psalm 89 addresses God's people in a time of trial. It begins with the comfort of knowing that God has committed himself to his Anointed King, and so to his people. But it ends with the bad news that God has now rejected his King. In Jesus, we discover that this bad news is actually - surprisingly - good news of great comfort.

Dr. Griffiths is a teacher on staff at the Proclamation Trust in
London, England. He serves as tutor on the Cornhill Training Course. He previously served as assistant minister at Christ Church, Westbourne. He is married to Gemma and they have two children, Edward and Arabella.

Finished on the Cross: It is Finished

Easter 2015

Romans 8:31-39

"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
