As followers of Christ, we are all called to be His ambassadors to a world in need of a Saviour. As a part of the local church in Ottawa, we have the opportunity to be Jesus’ hands and feet to our community in the Nation’s Capital. City Outreach is a key part of what we do at The Met. It is our heartbeat and our deep desire to love Ottawa intentionally with the love of Christ.
The Met helps provide backpacks for needy children and winter clothing for children and adults without adequate means, remembering that Jesus said that we do for the least of these we do for Him.
Bridges strives to provide a healthy meal, worship, a devotional message and friendship to people living in poverty in the downtown core. Bridges meets on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm throughout the year at The Bronson Centre.
The Met’s sports ministry at Britannia Woods is a basketball camp we call Hoop Nights. We reach out to teens growing up in a tough environment. These teens so desperately need love, mentoring, and to hear about the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
MALTA and The Met partner together to bring the love of Christ to those with exceptional needs living in group homes. Many have come to faith and had their lives transformed through a Bible study held for them in our Fireside Room, and through special events like our summer BBQ celebration.
The Met expresses love and concern for the elderly living in seniors' residences. Some folks living there follow Christ, but can no longer get out to church. Others used to go to church and are open to the message of Jesus. The Met brings monthly worship services to four seniors' residences, and Bible studies to several others.
