Missions
Missions is the term used to describe those activities associated with bringing the Gospel to people around the world and is described in the Bible as the Great Commission (referenced in Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Luke 24: 46-49; John 20:21-22; Acts 1:8, and Acts 26:13-18). The Great Commission, which was considered Christ’s last commandment, gives to the Church the mandate, purpose and pattern for missions, namely, to go into the entire world and preach the Gospel to every person, baptizing those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and teaching believers to be followers of Jesus Christ.
Missions is a key priority of the Metropolitan Bible Church (The MET). The MET seeks to encourage its members to fulfill the Great Commission and serve in mission-related activities in Ottawa and around the world.
The missionaries listed on this page are all supported by The MET. Support may include funding and/or encouragement. In addition, regular prayer support is provided through The MET network of pastoral staff, small groups, and the congregation. Simply click on a name listed under "Our Missionary Family" to find biographies, ministry information, and updated letters from the field. Please note that for security reasons, some missionaries may not be listed on this website.
The MET Missions Program provides a variety of programs and opportunities for MET members to fulfill Christ's commandment. Here are some opportunities where you can use your unique gifts:
- Short-term mission teams through The MET;
- Longer term mission opportunities through recognized partners and organizations;
- Help manage the Missions Program by volunteering in one of our select Mission Missionary Teams;
- Salt & Light; and
- Student Internship in The MET Missions Program.
