What You Can Expect on Sunday
If you are joining us for the first time, here are some things you might find interesting about our church:
Service Times and Parking
We host several morning worship services on Sunday starting at 9:00 am (September to June: 9:00, 10:50 and 11:00 am; July to August: 9:00 and 11:00 am). We provide free parking and a complementary shuttle service for those who may require assistance traveling to church.
Arriving at The MET
When you first arrive, you’ll be greeted by members of our church family and they can direct you to our place of worship, the Sanctuary. For the special 10:50 am service, you will meet in our Fellowship Centre for a more casual service. When you enter the worship service, you will be given a printed church “bulletin” which provides an overview of Sunday’s events as well as the upcoming church activities for the week. We encourage you to read this to learn more about opportunities you may be interested in pursuing.
Accessibility
People with disabilities will find that The MET is fully accessible in a number of key areas throughout the church. Here is an overview of the places that you will find accessibility. Please note that our front church entrance can accommodate larger vans as well as Para Transpo vehicles.
- All entrances into the church (there are a number around the building and close to all parking).
- All main washrooms, including two handicap washrooms on the main level
- Seating for wheelchairs can be found at the back of the lower level of our Sanctuary. Please ask a greeter for assistance.
- An accessible elevator from main floor to our second floor (where you will find the Metro Café, classrooms, etc.)
- Wide hallways
The Sunday Morning Worship Service
Our Sunday morning worship service commences with a time of worship through live music. You are invited to sing along with the guidance of our worship leader. The lyrics for all the music will be posted on our screens so everyone may follow along.
A member of our pastoral team will pray with us and also bring family news from our church community. A time of offering will take place. This is when church family members provide their regular financial contribution. If you are a visitor, we do not ask for any such contributions, just that you complete the ‘Communication Card’ in your church bulletin, so we can know you attended, and place this in the offering plate as it goes by.
The day’s message will then be given, usually by our senior pastor, however at times other staff pastors or guest speakers will share. We encourage everyone to open a Bible (available at The MET or you may bring your own) during the service in order to follow along and to improve your understanding of the message. We conclude with a time of prayer and some additional music. Anyone wishing to pray with someone after the service is encouraged to do so with a member of our pastoral team. You can find them at the front of the Sanctuary after the service.
A Place for Children
If you have children, we welcome you to have them join our Sunday worship services. We provide a Parents’ Room with a live video feed of the service if your child is a little fussy or needs to be actively moving about! Families attending the 10:50 am service will find some round tables available where they can sit together. Each table is equipped with crayons and markers that we provide, to help your younger family members throughout the entire service. We have a very rich Children’s Ministry at The MET that includes Sunday school classes for children of all ages. Please visit the Children’s Ministry section of our website to learn more about what is available for your young family members at The MET.
The Sunday Evening Worship Service
The MET also holds a time of worship every Sunday evening starting at 6:00 pm. You can expect a similar format including music, singing, announcements and a message from one of our pastoral team. These evening services are relaxed and a great time to meet and connect with others after the service.
What to Wear to Church
Often newcomers and first-time visitors are not sure what to wear to church. At The MET we believe that attending church is the most important decision for the day, and we want you to dress in a manner that is comfortable for you. Members of our church family dress in a wide range of styles from casual, to moderately dressy to business-style.
The MET Welcome Centre
We know that you may have questions that you need a quick answer to or queries about an upcoming event, specific program, or MET class you’d like to join. To assist you with this, we offer a friendly, fully-accessible Welcome Centre and information booth in the main lobby outside the Sanctuary every Sunday.
Feel free to stop by and someone from our church family will be happy to assist you!
