At The Met we believe that every Christian should be involved in serving in the local church. There are many ways you can serve here at The Met. Please take some time to learn about our needs below and fill out our serve form once you are ready.

 

Community Engagement

Greeters and Hosts

Our Greeters and Hosts team is made up of a variety of faithful men and women who love interacting with other people. We would love to have you join us in serving our people through greeting them on Sundays, hosting them as they enter into the sanctuary, and making sure everyone feels welcome and at home.
Requirements to Serve
• Age 16+
• Attend Starting Point

Safety and First Aid

In cases of emergency, our Safety and first aid team makes sure things are taken care of. We are in need of people who have sharp senses and basic first aid training.
Requirements to Serve
• Age 18+
• First Aid Trained (Minimum CPR-C Certification)
• Plan to Protect Certified
• Met Attendee for 6 Months Minimum
• Attend Starting Point

Library and Bookhub

The Met offers a variety of books in our Library on Sunday mornings. To make sure these books are well managed, we are in need of volunteers who run the library.
Requirements to Serve
• Age 16+
• Met Attendee for 6 Months Minimum

Facility

Setup and Tear Down

Hosting events and a variety of ministries requires a tremendous amount of set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and other various objects. If you want to work with your hands and help us prepare for events behind the scenes, we would love to have you join us!

Facility Maintenance

Throughout the years, The Met facility has had key volunteers who make sure things are kept up to date. This includes painting, fixing various shelves and a variety of other general facility maintenance. We are in need of people who have experience in maintaining a facility such a ours.

Hospitality

The Missions Cafe

At The Missions Cafe, our heart is to help people connect with each other. Every Sunday morning, we offer people a variety of baked goods and coffee. If you are interested in serving through baking muffins, brewing coffee and interacting with people, we would love to have you join us at The Missions Cafe!
Requirements to Serve
• Age 16+

Weekly Ministries and Events

We are always looking for help when it comes to hospitality throughout our various events and ministries. This includes things like welcoming people, meal preparation, serving tables, and other opportunities to interact with attendees.

Kids

Tykes (Ages 0 - 5)

METTykes takes place on Sunday mornings during the 8:30AM & 10:30AM service, and is a great way to come alongside parents in providing spiritual care for children ages 0 - 5. If you enjoy spending time with babies or playing with toddlers, we would love to hear from you!

• Plan to Protect Certified
• Annual Ministry Agreement
• Met Attendee for 6 Months Minimum

Elementary (Grade 1 - 6)

Elementary takes place on Sunday mornings during the 8:30AM & 10:30AM service, and is a great way to come alongside parents in providing spiritual care for children grades 1 - 6. If you enjoy leading and teaching God's word to children, this is a great opportunity for you to serve.

Awana

Awana is a volunteer lead program for young children on Thursday nights. As a volunteer program, we are always looking for help. Some opportunities include leading groups, greeting kids, and playing games in the gym.

• Annual Ministry Agreement
• Met Attendee for 6 Months Minimum

Christian Service Brigade

CSB is a volunteer lead program for young boys on Friday nights. As a volunteer program, we are always looking for help. Some opportunities include leading groups, greeting kids, and playing games in the gym.

• Annual Ministry Agreement
• Met Attendee for 6 Months Minimum

METWomen Child Care

METWomen offers child care during their Wednesday morning program. If you are looking for a way to serve the women that join us on Wednesdays, this is a great opportunity for you. We are looking for people who enjoy spending time with young children playing games, taking care of babies and other tasks.

• Age 16+
• Plan to Protect Certified
• Annual Ministry Agreement
• Met Attendee for 6 Months Minimum

Music and Production

Musical Worship

Every Sunday morning, The Met is lead by an amazing team of musicians in musical worship. If you have musical talents, and a desire to use them to serve the Lord, we would love to have you join us.

• Age 18+
• Audition
• Experienced Musician
• Church Membership
• Met Attendee for 6 Months Minimum

Tech

Our Sunday services would not be possible without the amazing team of volunteers that run our production ministry behind the scenes. If you are looking to get involved in lighting, audio, or running slides, please join our team.
Requirements to Serve
• Age 18+

Media

If you love taking photos, videos, and want to share with others what God is doing at The Met through our social platforms, this opportunity is for you! There are many ways you can serve with a camera, including Sunday Services, mid-week events, etc.

Outreach and Compassion

Team Member

As a part of the local church in Ottawa, we have the opportunity to be Jesus’ hands and feet to our community in the Nation’s Capital. City Outreach is a key part of what we do at the Met. It is our heartbeat and our deep desire to love Ottawa intentionally with the love of Christ. Learn more about the various ways you can join in us weekly at the various City Outreach initiatives.

Young Adults

Musical Worship

Young Adults is looking for people who would like to serve on the musical worship team through singing, acoustic guitar, bass, or piano. If you have any other instrumental talents, we would love to hear from you as well!
Requirements to Serve
• Age 18-25
• Pass an Audition

Tech

Young adults is looking for people who want to help on the tech side of running our service. This includes things like our sound board, slides, and lighting.

• Age 18-25
• Available for training

Youth

Junior High (Grade 7 - 8)

Junior High is a high energy environment with a need for fun, compassionate and godly men and women who want to invest in our next generation. Some tasks include leading small groups, playing sports with youth, and joining us on fun retreats!

• Annual Ministry Agreement

Senior High (Grade 9 - 12)

Senior High is a high energy environment with a need for fun, compassionate and godly men and women who want to invest in our next generation. Some tasks include leading small groups, playing sports with youth, and joining us on fun retreats!

Quizzing

Every Sunday afternoon, The Met runs a quizzing session for youth. Volunteers will help youth understand and learn about God's word through memorization.

Leader In Training Program

Every Sunday morning, young leaders from our METYouth program come together to grow and serve the church together! Volunteers will help lead groups, and invest in the next generation of leaders. We would love to have you help us.

Seniors

Seniors Ministry

Senior's Ministry is a rewarding way to provide spiritual care and support to our senior community. Volunteers help with various activities and programs designed to enrich the lives of our seniors. If you are passionate about making a difference and enjoy connecting with others, we would love to have you join our team!
